Usage of Kanban Systems

May 16th, 2010 · No Comments · Links News

pstrongKanban/strong is a Japanese word meaning sign board or a bill board. It is used to signal for a need of an item. Historically Kanban used cards to pass on these signals. It is used to trigger the action that is taking place. But later on various devices such as floor location, plastic markers are also used to trigger the supply of the products. In order to develop these things, Toyota introduced the strongKanban/strong system. It was a great improvement as no demand was found at any place. In the early 1950rsquo;s Toyota started their research on the supermarkets with an ideas to implement the a href=http://www.creativesafetysupply.com/Kanban.html target=_blankstrongKanban/strong/a system in supermarkets so that there would be no demand for products and this helped customers to get what they wanted. The supermarkets also loved this means of signalling system and they used signal boards to guide shopkeepers to specific restocking locations. After strongKanbanrsquo;s /strongsuccess in supermarkets, Toyota used the same thing in their main plant which turned out to be a success./p

pnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; After the success of Toyota, many teams started introducing electronic strongKanban /strongsystems. This electronic system reduces the manual errors and cards that have been lost. This system doesnrsquo;t need any care. It is further used in making a chain of systems and exchanging the products to their desired level. The E-Kanban systems tracking has become better and thus better results were obtainedstrong./strong/p
pstrongThree-Bin System/strong/p
pstrongnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; /strongAn example for the Kanban system is the three-bin system (i.e., one bin on the demand point, another on the factory outlet, and the last one at the distributorrsquo;s place). Itrsquo;s a very simple example that is if the bin at the demand point is empty there is a demand for parts and so the cards are sent as signals to the concerned factory and they will fill up the bin and give it to the supplier. To know what kind of products, the cards are attached to the bins which contain the information about the products and their types./p

pstrongKanbanrsquo;s /strongsystem is one of the effective and simplest of all the systems that are at present. Even though this system pushes the factories for their demand, this also serves the customers with a high quality of the products. This is one among the six rules that are followed by Toyota. Those who are using this system of signals need to obey the rules that are being provided by Toyota. Without this scheme people have found it very difficult to get there products when they wanted. There would have been a shortage of products every now and then. By the arrival of this new scheme people are very happy to get products very quickly that too of a high quality, thanks to strongKanban. /strongIt is used as astrong /stronggreat signal for manufacturers as well as the suppliers to serve the customers. We have to thank to Toyota for innovating such a great piece of work. It would be good if other companies follow this method as it is hassle free and convenient.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/p
